Please try out the shuttle bus this summer and then engage in the DEP's comment opportunities to provide your input on what you like or would like to see done differently (such as the need for the schedule to have longer hours) to help shape how the eventual comprehensive service - ideally with electric buses - may work best- hopefully starting next summer. Please try out the shuttle bus to LSP's main destinations - if either you've taken mass transit to the LSP light rail station, or if you've gotten to LSP by a ride service. Also, if you've driven to the park on a jam-packed traffic weekend with some full free parking lots and to avoid the $7 ferry lot, you could park your vehicle at a free lot, with usual open parking spaces at the south side's lots (try shuttle bus stop 8) and get on the shuttle to get to the destinations that often have full weekend lots such as the large playground/picnic area on Freedom Way, the Nature Center or Terminal (with ferry tourist cheaters taking most spots in the 2 hour lot). No matter how you get to the park or where you want to spend most of your time, please try out a weekend shuttle bus ride through September 29th, just to experience a Scenic bus tour of LSP with its urban green open space expanses, and panoramic views of Lady Liberty, Ellis Island, NYC, and the river, bay and Verrazzano Bridge.

- 7/19/24 Jersey Journal by Ron Zeitlinger "Free shuttle service inside LSP begins today"
The pilot shuttle service will operate on weekends and select other days through Sept. 29. Two shuttle buses, one with a wheelchair lift, will transport visitors along a designated route on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. A shuttle will arrive at each stop approximately every 20 minutes. "The Friends of LSP praises the DEP and the ARUP consultants for organizing this important pilot and seeking public input in expanding access to The People’s priceless, inspiring waterfront park,” said Friends of Liberty State Park President Sam Pesin. “The pilot marks the start of the re-establishment of an essential comprehensive shuttle bus system for LSP’s great future!"
