"Congressman calls for helicopter ban over LSP after federal flight plan is finalized"
Quote by
Congressman Rob Menendez to NPS
: "I strongly urge you to designate the entirely of Liberty State Park as an avoidance area... Luxury helicopters tours should not and cannot come at the expense of families who deserve to peacefully enjoy the limited public spaces we get to call our own", continued Menendez, who requested a briefing from the federal agencies on the agreements and the decision-making process.

Congressman Rob Menendez
letter to NPS and FAA
"I strongly urge you to designate the entirety of LSP as an avoidance area and prioritize the consideration of alternative flight routes that do not bring disruptive flight traffic in close proximity to Hudson County's waterfront. Such measures may include, without limitation, assessing the feasibility of limiting commercial flight routes to the middle of the Hudson River".

Congressman Rob Menendez press release on
his letter to NPS and FAA
quote from Sam Pesin, president of Friends of LSP: "Congressman Menendez's caring leadership on this severe threat to LSP, as expressed in the 2263 public comments to the NPS, is critical in making the entire LSP an ‘avoidance area’ for tourist helicopters and in urging the wise and practical solution of their flight path to go down the middle of the river/bay.”

The National Park Service (NPS) has extended the PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD until Dec. 30th at 11:59pm
A
suggested
basic comment is that you "strongly oppose this plan for tourist helicopters
to fly over Liberty
State Park
and any closer than now because the very loud noise would severely harm people's enjoyment of this popular urban state park."
THANKS to all who already submitted comments!
We must protect our RIGHT to LSP quality of life experiences from the severe harm of this deafening loud HELICOPTER NOISE BARRAGE ASSAULT on all LSP users' park enjoyment from this "Commercial Air Tour Voluntary Agreement" Flight Path by NPS with the Tourist Helicopter Industry.
LSP is a priceless urban oasis, our urban backyard, a mental and physical public health resource, and also LSP is a sacred national treasure public park behind Lady Liberty.
