For LSP's almost 50 years – the park’s
birthday is on June 14 - the overwhelming majority broad public
consensus – many 10’s of 1000’s of caring people in many battles
have strongly supported a FREE PEOPLE'S PARK next to Lady
Liberty FOR ALL TO ENJOY and opposed commercialization and
privatization of this priceless public land! The essential LSP Protection Act was
re-introduced in the legislature by Senator Raj Mukherji and
will need everyone’s persevering support!
It was stalled for 6 years in the legislature due to
billionaire Paul Fireman’s money and his lobbyists, PR flaks,
and two front groups pushing lies and smear attacks. Fireman
still wants a sports and entertainment complex replacing the
long-planned flood resiliency spectacular habitats and trails in
the interior. We urge the legislature and Governor
Sherrill to strongly support the Protection Act which will end
decades of battles and would be the best 50th birthday present
to LSP!
